MS: No Code Changes In Vista

MS has fired back at a SmartHouse article that was dugg earlier, calling it "speculation with no demonstrable basis in fact." No Xbox developers have gone to the Windows division, and coding is all but done. Maybe SH smelled the sweet success of blogosphere love for their iPhone article, and got a bit too risky in who they trust for their sources?

TechCrunch Mirror - The Power of Digg

Posted by Michael Arrington

Digg is only a year and a half old, but it is already a significant social force that moves massive attention and traffic around the Internet. As has been noted for some time, it has been steadily closing the gap in alexa comparisons with Slashdot, and now has more than 800,000 average daily visitors. For further comparisons, check out digg vs. dot, a site that looks at crossposts on Digg and Slashdot. From recent personal experience, I can say that Digg certainly sends a lot of traffic to popular stories (whether that traffic ever returns is another story).

And Digg continues to release new features to build community. It now allows ratings of individual comments. And users can now also track the activities of their friends on digg as well.

Along with that power, of course, comes some negative attention as well - specifically people trying to game Digg for their own purposes. It can be as simple as using fake accounts to push a story up to the front page. As the site gets more popular, this becomes harder to do, but the reward (more traffic) also gets correspondingly larger. The increased costs are matched by increased incentives.

The most recent story of abuse is a suggestion that people are using Digg to artificially inflate the price of a public company - Sun - by promoting a rumor that Google may be acquiring the company. Digg has a number of protections in place to guard against bad news - including user flags of suspicious posts.

The Tammy Cell Phone Video Craze Will Not Die

It has been a little over two weeks since the Tammy NYP home made movie scandal rocked Technorati and the Blogosphere. But, the onslaught of searches for Tammy's underage escapades has decreased very little since stabilizing and remains seemingly constant. Curiosity driven searchers are still wild about Tammy. Technorati filtered any Tammy NYP related blogs into the splog bucket and washed their hands of Tammy. But, Tammy lives. Scott Converse the CEO of Click Caster told feedscott that fortunately or unfortunately porn drives a lot of the technical innovation. Well, it also drives internet traffic to. No surprise here, sex sells right?

Proof: here comes the Bukit Batok Video from Singapore.

See these posts which continue to get about 25 hits a day:

The Urban Dictionary gets Vurf

Are you dizzoun wit watz wizzup? If you don't understand or get the meaning of the first sentence, you might want to pay a vizit to The Urban Dictionary. This is where new slang words are defined by users. feedscott found this website through Irina Slutsky on GeekEneterainment.tv.

Recently, while reviewing the vlogdir or video directory feedscott coined the term vurf. Vurf is a mashup of Video and Surf. Loaded Pun thought it was interesting enough to blog about vurf. So, short story short feedscott submitted vurf to Urban Dictionary as a new slang word. You can check the status on vurf by clicking on here.

The www.deepmarket.com effect

Chris Pirillo Effect - The Joe Anderson Effect

"This is an old story, but there is the semi-urban legend that if you mention Chris Pirillo in a blog posting, he will come and post a comment on your blog. This was known as the Chris Pirillo Effect, but the effectiveness of the CPE seems to have degraded over the last year. What the heck - it is worth a try.

However, Joe Anderson seems to want to replace Chris with his own Joe Anderson Effect. Joe writes the Webby’s World blog which is “about technology. It is generally focused on cool websites, hacks, piracy (and ethics) and open-source. Also, there’s quite a bit about the Mozilla programs and Mozilla spirit.“"

67% Chance that God Exists

"A scientist has calculated that there is a 67% chance that God exists.

Dr Stephen Unwin has used a 200-year-old formula to calculate the probability of the existence of an omnipotent being. Bayes' Theory is usually used to work out the likelihood of events..."

This was the feedscott comment posted on digg:

Do not base your eternal decisions on chance. Ponder this: Humans are the most intelligent creatures on earth yet we can not create and produce ourselves from dust. Cloning is close, but just a copy of the original. If evolution is correct we accidentally were formed and evolved from dust soup. The law of probability states if you roll the dice enough times that all the possible combinations of numbers will appear. So, it is easier to believe that we are just freaks of nature.

There is a veil of time and eternity that separates us from the knowledge of our origin. However, you have a gift of intelligence far greater than any argument on either side of evolution or intelligent design. Your decision to chose and believe in eternal divine existance or accidental temporal nature is yours and yours alone. Some of life's answers can be found externally, but you have to search internally as well. I found a lot of answers to questions I have had for a long time @ http://www.mormon.org/

Can't keep a good tammy tami tammi tamy down

Noticeably absent from technorati this morning was anything related to Tammy nyp "Tammy nyp" "nyp Tammy" "Tammy download" Tammynyp "nypTammy" and so on. Did I miss any?

The teen student cheerleader from Singapore whose home video recorded on her cell phone has taken the internet by storm was removed, wiped away, and cleaned out of the technorati top fifteen searches. But, Tammy won't stay down or away for long.

Tammy is back with new search spellings: tami tammi tamy and video.

People are coo coo for Tammy Puffs.
